Finding Yeshua (Jesus) in the Names of God

Variations of the Hebrew name Yeshua (Jesus).  The top two are pronounced Yehoshua, and the bottom one is a contraction that is pronounced Yeshua.  This spelling and pronunciation were typical in Jerusalem during the Second Temple period.

In Jewish culture, names are not chosen randomly or on a whim like my name William ויליאם.

A person’s name is believed to affect their entire spiritual identity and even their destiny.
Scripture seems to enforce this idea; for instance, the Messiah was named Yeshua (Jesus).  That name means salvation, and Matthew 1:21 confirms that it reflects His destiny.
“She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Yeshua, because He will save His people from their sins.”  (Matthew 1:21)
Since Yeshua is one with the Father (John 10:30, 14:7; Matthew 11:27), we can expect to find His character revealed in the names of the Father.

“My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets.”  (Malachi 1:11)

Variations of the Hebrew name Yeshua (Jesus).  The top two are pronounced Yehoshua, and the bottom one is a contraction that is pronounced Yeshua.  This spelling and pronunciation were typical in Jerusalem during the Second Temple period. Now some have said the bottom one is just Joshua however here is Joshua in Hebrew: יהושע

So you can see יהושע and ישוע is not the same in Hebrew!

Discovering the Character of Messiah in the Names of the Father
“So I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel…”  (Ezekiel 39:7)
Father God has, in His mercy, chosen to reveal His Divine character and nature to His people through His Holy name.
All of the names we will look at here are compound and begin with the Four Letters of God’s personal, holy name:  YHWH.
“I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as El Shaddai (God Almighty), but by My name YHWH יְהֹוָה, I did not make myself known to them.”  (Exodus 6:3)
This four-letter name of God is derived from the Hebrew verb hayah meaning to be.  God seems to explain this to Moses when He said,  “I Am who I Am [ehyeh aser ehyeh]’”
Most Christian Bibles write LORD in place of YHWH.  And in the Jewish tradition, the Hebrew word Adonai is said when reading Scripture aloud.
Let’s now take a look at Father God and Messiah Yeshua in the names:  YHWH El Elyon (Most High), YHWH Nissi (Banner), and YHWH Roi (My Shepherd).

The holy name of God, YHWH, was spoken by the High Priest on Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement).  When the Jewish People read Scripture aloud, however, they substitute Adonai (Lord).

1) The LORD Most High God: YHWH El Elyon (יְהֹוָה אֵ֣ל עֶלְי֔וֹן)
“For You, O Lord [YHWH], are Most High [Elyon] over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.”  (Psalm 97:9, see Genesis 14:22)
The name Adonai El Elyon (The Lord Most High God) reveals the superiority and supremacy of God.
The Hebrew word Elyon, meaning Most High, Uppermost, Lofty, or the Supreme, is derived from the Hebrew root A-L-H, meaning to go up or ascend.
The implication is that God is high and above any and all created things.  This includes the false gods that arise from the imaginations of humankind and all demonic powers.
In fact, when God poured out His fury upon Egypt in the form of the ten plagues, He proved Himself to be Elyon — higher than any false Egyptian deity (Exodus 12:12).

The Plague of Flies depicts the fourth plague and the supremacy of YHWH over the Egyptian god Khepri, who had the head of a fly, can you imagine having the head of a fly, tiny brain, and drinking poop and they made that a god?

The name El Elyon reveals that God is the absolute Highest Supremacy.  He is the Extremely-Exalted, High God who is far superior to anyone or anything.
For this reason, we should both fear Him revere Him and trust Him.
“I cry out to God Most High [Elohim Elyon], to God [El], who fulfills [His purpose] for me.”  (Psalm 57:2; see also Psalm 7:17)
“How awesome is the LORD Most High [YHWH Elyon], the great King over all the earth!”  (Psalm 47:2)
The Brit Chadashah (New Covenant) connects this idea of supremacy with Yeshua (Jesus).  God has made Him above all (Elyon) by placing all things under His feet.
“And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the community of Believers.” (Ephesians 1:22)

2) The Lord My Banner: YHWH Nissi (יְהוָה נִסִּי)
“Moses built an altar and called it The LORD [YHWH] is my Banner [Nissi].”  (Exodus 17:15)
The Lord My Banner or Adonai Nissi (YHWH Nissi) is the name Moses called the altar that he built when he rejoiced over Israel’s victory over the Amalekites.
To understand this name, consider that today, military units and even marching bands often rally behind the one carrying the flag that identifies the group.  That person is known as the standard-bearer.
So, too, Moses rallied behind the Lord, his Standard-Bearer, and He led the way to victory.
Yet, the banner is not an adequate term to describe our Lord.
The word Nissi could be derived from nes (miracle, banner, sign); nasa (lifted up), or nus (flee for refuge).
So, in addition to being our Leader, YHWH Nissi could also mean that God is our Miracle, our Exalted One, our Refuge.

The Prophet Isaiah refers to the Messiah as a banner (nes) in two of his End-Time Messianic Prophecies.
“In that day the Root of Jesse [Messiah] will stand as a banner [nes] for the peoples; the nations [Goyim] will rally to him, and His place of rest will be glorious.”  (Isaiah 11:10)
Also in Isaiah 49, he uses the word nissi in connection with the end-time restoration of Israel.
“See, I will beckon to the Gentiles [Goyim], I will lift up my banner [nissi] to the peoples; they will bring your sons in their arms and carry your daughters on their shoulders.”  (Isaiah 49:22)
Messiah Yeshua has been sent to the nations, and because of their great love for Him, Gentiles are helping to restore the Jewish People to the land of Israel, just as Isaiah prophesied.

God’s “banner over us” symbolizes His presence, provision, redemptive power, and love.
We no longer need to be out there on our own, gaining victory through our own might and devices.  He is our rallying point and our Banner, and we can confidently look to Him and to Messiah Yeshua for direction and help.
“He has taken me to the banquet hall, and His banner [dagal] over me is love [ahava].”  (Song of Solomon 2:4)
He demonstrates to us His love as a Shepherd does for His sheep.

“‘I will feed My flock and I will lead them to rest,’ declares the Lord GOD.”
(Ezekiel 34:15)
3) The Lord My Shepherd: YHWH Ro’i (יְהוָה רֹעִי)
One of the best known and beloved of the psalms of David begins with these comforting words you might even have it memorized:
“The Lord is my Shepherd [YHWH Roi], I shall not be in want.”  (Psalm 23:1)
This psalm is traditionally read at many Jewish and gentile funeral services because it refers to God walking with us as a good shepherd, through the valley of the shadow of death.
The realization that we have a faithful Shepherd to guide and protect us, and that we are not wandering lost and alone in this world, alleviates fear and loneliness, and establishes the safety, purpose, and direction that we can find in Him.
Yeshua (Jesus) also called Himself the Good Shepherd, saying that He would even give His life for His sheep.
“I am the Good Shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.”  (John 10:11)

David, the shepherd who became a shepherd king to the people of Israel remained a humble lamb in the face of YHWH Roi, Adonai my Shepherd.
While YHWH Roi is our Shepherd, He has appointed a Shepherd of His own to rule and reign over His creation on His behalf.
The Hebrew Prophet Ezekiel confirmed that the Messiah, a descendant of King David, would come and, like David, rule Israel as a Shepherd King.
“My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd.” (Ezekiel 37:24; see also Isaiah 40:11, Micah 5:4)
The Hebrew prophets also foretold, however, that the Shepherd would be struck down, and would give His life as an offering for sin as the Lamb of God (Isaiah 53:4–5).
“Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me! declares the LORD Almighty.  Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered….”  (Zechariah 13:7; see Matthew 26:31, Mark 14:27, John 16:32)
The Book of Revelation ties these three aspects of the Messiah—the Lamb, the King, and the Shepherd—to Yeshua and His soon return as the Shepherd King of Israel.
“For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water.  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”  (Revelation 7:17)

So now you also know the people that use the word Jehovah are not interpreting that word from the Hebrew Bible or the Tanakh it is always LORD or Adonai.

Although the Jewish People know God as El Elyon (The Most High God), many do not know that all things are under Yeshua’s feet.
And although they know that God is their Banner, they do not know that Yeshua is the prophesied Root of Jesse who will stand as a Banner to the peoples.
Israel also knows that the Lord is their Shepherd, but many do not yet realize that Yeshua is their Shepherd King who laid down His life for them and will soon return to completely fulfill every Messianic prophecy.
As for the world, so few know that the God of Israel is the one true God and that He loves them and is reaching out to meet their needs and save them.

We need your help in bringing the Good News of Yeshua to Israel and the nations through articles like this!
“Let them know that You, whose name is the LORD [YHWH]—that You alone are the Most High [Elyon] over all the earth.”  (Psalm 83:18)
“Everyone who was willing and whose heart moved them came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the tent of meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments.”  (Exodus 35:21)

The Transforming Power Of Unity Between Jews And Gentiles

On Shavuot (Pentecost), the first Believers, who were nearly all Jewish, recognized that the New Covenant had begun, but they didn’t immediately recognize that non-Jews should be part of God’s people or His New Covenant blessings.

When Jewish people come to know their Messiah, fellow Gentile Believers (Christians) often feel that these Messianic Jews no longer need to express their Jewishness.

Both Jews and Gentiles pray at the Western “Wailing” Wall in the Holy City of Jerusalem
“For He is our peace; in His flesh He has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us.”  (Ephesians 2:14)

While it is true that Jewish followers of Yeshua are part of those called out from every tribe and tongue, Gentile Believers often forget that Yeshua and His first Believers were Jewish—and many were observant Jews.
Consequently, Jewish Believers who insist on any type of Jewish observance are many times criticized for “maintaining the middle wall of division,” which is a reference to the wall that was established in the ancient Temple in Jerusalem to separate Jews from non-Jews.
But, as the Messianic Jewish evangelist Sid Roth has said, it was never the intention of God or Yeshua to push Jews and Judaism aside and create a “new religion.”

One New Man:  Jewish Believers
Unfortunately, for 2,000 years, Christianity has developed an expression of faith separate from its original heritage of Judaism.
Jewish Believers in Yeshua, however, understand almost immediately that their faith in Messiah has everything to do with being Jewish and that it is deeply rooted in Judaism and the Messianic prophecies.
In the same way that it is unnecessary for Gentiles to “convert” to Judaism when they accept Yeshua (Jesus) as their Messiah, it is quite unnecessary for Jewish Believers to “convert” from Judaism to Gentile Christianity. Replacement Theology also called “supersessionism” is the dangerous view that the church has superseded or replaced Israel in God’s plan as His Chosen people.
Why? Because our Torah, prophets, and writings all point to Yeshua as being the One we so earnestly pray will come.
A great many Jews who follow Yeshua celebrate the appointed times that God gave in the Torah to His Chosen People.  Many also maintain traditional Biblical Jewish customs, rituals, and the holidays, especially those that Yeshua Himself kept, such as wearing tzitzit (fringes) and celebrating Hanukkah.
And we rejoice in the New Covenant that the Prophet Jeremiah foresaw:
“‘The days are coming,’ declares the LORD, ‘when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.  It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors.’”  (Jeremiah 31:31–32)
None of this, though, is meant to build a wall of division between Jewish and Gentile Believers.  And such a wall is certainly not the will of God.

The One New Man Foreshadowed in the Old Covenant
On Shavuot (Pentecost), the first Believers, who were nearly all Jewish, recognized that the New Covenant had begun, but they didn’t immediately recognize that non-Jews should be part of God’s people or His New Covenant blessings.
It took them a while to uncover the truths in the Hebrew Scriptures that point to the inclusion of the Goyim (nations or non-Jews) into God’s covenantal plan for mankind because of arrogance.
  • Abraham, the father of the Hebrew people from whom “all nations will be blessed,” was called out from the nation of Ur (Genesis 12:1).
  • Abraham left the land of Ur with his wife, his possessions, and “the souls that they had made” (Genesis 12:5).  The Babylonian Talmud (Sanh. 99b) says these souls were Gentiles whom Abraham proselytized and became loyal to his faith.
  • Ruth, a Moabite, declared, “Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God” (Ruth 1:16).  This Moabite woman became the grandmother of King David and the ancestor of The Messiah.
  • Amos prophesied the unity of Jew and Gentile without walls (Amos 9:11–12, discussed below).

Ur of the Chaldees

Abram’s Journey from Ur to Canaan showing that at this point and time everyone was a Gentile until God in His desire picked out a people for Himself through the lineage of who became Abraham!

In keeping with God’s plans, Messiah Himself healed and ministered to both Jew and Gentile.
While traveling through the pagan territory, Yeshua told a Canaanite woman seeking deliverance for her demon-possessed daughter, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel” (Matthew 15:24).  Yeshua appears to be merciless toward this desperate Gentile mother—until she proves her faith in Him as the true Messiah.
As with this Canaanite woman, belief in the God of Israel and His plan for humanity has always been the requirement for the Goyim or Gentiles to partake in the blessings and responsibilities of His covenants.
There are many examples of Yeshua healing non-Jews who were full of such faith; for example, He healed a Roman centurion’s servant (Luke 7:1–10), saying, “I have not found such great faith even in Israel” (v. 9).
Others would have great faith and become His witnesses because of their encounter with the healing power of Yeshua.  For instance, He delivered the demon-possessed man in the region of the Gerasenes (Mark 5:20), and he ministered to the Samaritan woman (John 4).  Both spread the good news throughout their villages.

In the act of healing, Yeshua was proving that God anointed and sent Him as Isaiah foretold so that “the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy.”  (Isaiah 35:5–6)
Yeshua Himself explained to His Jewish disciples that He was their Good Shepherd, but that they were not His only sheep:
“I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen.  I must bring them also.  They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.”  (John 10:16)
All of this implies that Yeshua expected non-Jews to be part of the Kingdom of God.
Nevertheless, we see that the earliest Believers ministering in regions of Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch were “spreading the word only among Jews” (Acts 11:19).
They did so because they understood their faith as strictly an expression of Judaism.  They fully expected that all Israel would know that Yeshua is the Messiah and that Gentiles would be saved by becoming one with (or converting to) a redeemed Jewish People.

Jewish Believers Accept Gentile Believers
It took a special vision (Acts 10:10–16) to convince the apostle Peter that it was acceptable for him as an observant Jew to enter the home of the Roman centurion Cornelius who was a pagan, to share the Good News.
We learn, however, in Acts 11:20–25 that some of the Jewish Believers traveled to Cyprus and Cyrene to share their faith with Hellenists (both Jews who were following a Greek lifestyle and to Greek-speaking non-Jews) in Antioch.
The Bible tells us that it was here in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians, or in Hebrew Notzrim, which literally means followers of Yeshua the Nazarene or Yeshua HaNotzri.
Most likely the Hellenists mentioned in the Book of Acts were a mix of Jews and non-Jews.  At any rate, some of the Jews had probably taken non-Jewish Hellenistic wives.

They were essentially pagans being introduced to what had formally been a solely Jewish sect of the Jewish faith and who were now being transformed into One New Man within that Jewish sect.

Without question, it was the role of Paul (formerly Saul the Jewish Pharisee) to bring the Jewish Gospel to the Gentile pagans of the Roman Empire.
This is clearly expressed in his letters and teachings, as in Romans 3:29:  “Is God the God of Jews only?  Is He not the God of Gentiles too?  Yes, of Gentiles too.”
Although Yeshua is the Jewish Messiah who had come to bring salvation to Israel, He is also the “light for the Gentiles” (Isaiah 42:6).  It was the role of Jewish Believers to bring His message to the Jewish People first and also to the world.
In the Book of Acts, Peter quotes the Hebrew Prophet Joel saying essentially that God’s Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) is being poured out on all people, and that “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  (Acts 2:17–21)
Still, as we said, it was not God’s intent to create a new religion called Christianity.

In fact, Paul clearly explains in his letter to the Romans (Romans 11:11–31) that the Believing Gentiles, who are the wild olive branches, have been grafted into the same olive tree “and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root.”  (v. 17)

Paul warns the Romans, however, not to boast against the natural branches who were broken off in unbelief, but instead relish the kindness of God.  When the broken branches come to faith, as Jewish Believers, they will be grafted back into their own tree and be nourished along with the Gentiles by the same root.

The One New Man:  Prophesied Intimacy for Jew and Gentile
Although a manmade split from the root occurred between Jews and Gentiles during the last 2,000 years, this was never God’s intent.
We read in Ephesians that it is God’s desire to bring “together in one all things in [Messiah].”  (Ephesians 1:10)
Sid Roth, Messianic Jew and host of “That’s Supernatural,” speaks of a time of unity within the body of Messiah “when the wall between Jew and Gentile is removed, the spiritual temple, God’s dwelling place, will be restored, and this One New Man will release resurrection power to the church that Paul calls ‘life from the dead!’”  (Romans 11:15)
Sid quotes Ephesians to further support this:  “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both [Jew and Gentile] one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation … to create in Himself one new man … in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”  (Ephesians 2:14–15, 22)
He explains that for a true outpouring of God’s Ruach (Spirit) to occur in these end times, the “Jew” and the “Gentile Christian” must come together as One New Man.  This new man was prophesied by Amos.

Amos described how God would build up the tabernacle of David, a unique structure in that it had no separating wall between the people and God, no Holy of Holies, and everyone was able to experience God’s presence.
“In that day I will raise up the booth of David that is fallen and repair its breaches, and raise up its ruins and rebuild it as in the days of old.”  (Amos 9:11)
This rebuilding is not only for the Jewish People.  It is so ”that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations [goyim–Gentiles] who are called by My name.”  (v. 12)
In fact, when the Jewish leaders were trying to decide what to do about the Gentiles, Jacob (James—the half-brother of Yeshua) quoted Amos 9:11–12 as evidence that “we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.”  (see Acts 15:13–19)
From long ago, the plan of God was to re-establish the kind of intimacy with Him that was experienced in the Garden of Eden.
That plan came to fruition when the veil that separated the Holy of Holies from mankind was torn from top to bottom.

Incorrect Christian Teaching
In Ephesians 2:14, Paul explains that through Yeshua, the enmity between Jew and Gentile has ceased, the dividing wall has been breached and that now both groups are one.
That dividing wall is not the Torah (God’s Law or Instruction) as many Christians teach.
It may not even be the “middle wall of partition” that kept Gentiles out of the Temple court, even upon threat of death.
Paul just might have referred to the wall or fence built up by Rabbinic traditions and oral laws that, in effect, kept Jewish people at enmity with Gentiles, rendering them unclean.

The practical outworking of the Rabbinic laws of purity, … raised a strong wall of separation between the observant Jew and the non-Jew even if this was not the original intent.  With the emphasis put upon purity by the Rabbis, separation from those things that rendered a person unclean was inevitable.  And, when Gentiles were added to the “list” of those things that communicate uncleanness, the wall was built between Jew and Gentile.

“According to oral Torah, mere contact with non-Jews could render a person unclean,[45] as well as contact with the residence of a non-Jew[46] or even with land outside the Land of Israel.[47]  Contact with any object used for idolatrous worship was added to the list of what might render a person unclean.[48] Clearly, the oral Torah of the 1st Century functioned to separate Jew and Gentile in a dramatic way.”  (The ‘Dividing Wall’” in Ephesians 2:14: What is it? Who made it? How was it broken down?, by Tim Hegg)

The good news is that Yeshua’s sacrifice broke down every barrier that would keep a Gentile away from accessing the intimacy, love, and salvation of God.
In place of these barriers, God sent His Holy Spirit, which does not divide but unites all Believers into one body with Christ of course as the head.
A way has been through its ill-treatment of the Jewish People.  Ultimately this led to expulsions as in the case of England in 1290 and Spain in 1492, and finally attempted Jewish annihilation during the Crusades, Inquisitions, and the Holocaust where millions upon millions of Jewish people were murdered.
After the Holocaust, these historical wrongs were in theory reversed through such ground-breaking documents as the Catholic Church’s 1965 “Nostra Aetate” (Latin for “In Our Time”) that finally disowned the doctrine that the Jews were to blame for killing Yeshua.

Modern Wall-Building Efforts
The return of the Jewish people to their own land in 1948 should have marked the end of the age of forced dispersion and exile with nowhere to go, but modern-day wall-building efforts to delegitimize and even annihilate Israel are promoted throughout the world.
For instance, international forums support efforts to back the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement against the Jewish state.
Some, however, recognize the true wall-building intent of this movement:
“At the core of the BDS movement is a quest to delegitimize Israel as a sovereign, democratic and Jewish state,” said Steven Nasatir, CEO of the Chicago-based Jewish United Fund.  (JNS)

While BDS seeks to delegitimize Israel among the nations, other movements, such as the “Christ at the Checkpoint” anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian church conferences seek to misuse the Word of God to incite division and hatred within the body of Yeshua toward the Jewish nation and people.  Many in this movement erroneously contend that the Church is now Israel.
Hank Hanegraaff, widely known as “The Bible Answer Man” has insisted that all the covenants of Abraham have been fulfilled and that there are No promises left for the Jewish People, not even the everlasting Land covenant given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as promised in Genesis 13:15, 17:8; Isaiah 43:5–7, 60:21; Ezekiel 37:25, 45:8; Amos 9:15; and many others.

Hanegraaff also stated that Christian Zionism is the evil force that resulted in secular Zionism, which caused the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and created the most displaced people group (Palestinians) in history when Israel was established in 1948.

Mark Labberton, President of Fuller Theological Seminary, which has campuses in California, Washington, Texas, and Arizona.

Labberton’s reflections of Yeshua’s Sermon on the Mount in the Book of Matthew continually emphasized the righteous truth that loving our enemies as Christ and Father God does is the obligation of every follower of Yeshua.

However, in the context of the overall conference, the audience would understand that their enemies are those who built the physical wall that separates Bethlehem and greater Jerusalem—not the Islamic terrorists who are the reason behind the need for the wall.

These kinds of international, political, and spiritual wall-building movements must be denounced if Jewish and Gentile Believers in Yeshua are to walk in the authority of the One New Man, bringing the Good News to Israel and the world.

Modern Wall-Demolishing Efforts
Paul described to the Gentile Ephesians what the One New Man should look like:
“You are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of His household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Yeshua HaMashiach Himself as the chief cornerstone.  In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.”  (Ephesians 2:19–21)
This one Temple will not have a Jewish wing and a Gentile wing.  It will have no walls; Jew and Gentile will join together in One Body, just as Amos 9:11–12 prophesied.
Let’s look at how a couple of people are helping to make this One New Man a reality.

Dennis Prager, Radio Commentator, Jewish Leader
While not a Believer in Yeshua, Dennis Prager has embraced the One New Man concept for pragmatic reasons.  He has often said that all Jews should kiss a Christian because it is Christians who are supporting Israel.
It is by and large Christians who support Israel on college campuses and who make anti-BDS legislation possible.
As well, it is Christians who have been taking the Torah to the world and who share fundamental values in common with the Jewish People.
What this unity in values is capable of is most prominently expressed in the founding documents of the great experiment, which is the United States of America and its longstanding alliance with Israel.
Dennis promotes and praises these accomplishments of the One New Man in secular and political endeavors.  Of course, as a Jewish person who has not yet encountered his Messiah, Dennis is not yet united on the issue of salvation.

Dr. Mitch Glaser
In the book Unity: Awakening the One New Man, Mitch Glaser contends that when it comes to salvation, the Jews have no advantage over the Gentiles (Romans 3:1).
Mitch explains this is Paul’s way of saying that “the ground is level at the foot of the cross,” and that “the end result of Jesus’ work on the cross is peace between Jews and Gentiles—a microcosm of the Kingdom reconciliation.”
Mitch says that through Yeshua there is peace and unity between Jew and Gentile, and “the Torah that previously divided us now brings us together.”
In the Torah, we learn of God’s nature and will for mankind, which belongs to Jew and Gentile alike.  He adds that it is his personal belief that through Messiah’s death, God has “created a deeper and more profound unity between Jews and Gentiles in Jesus,” but He has not obliterated the differences “created by God Himself.”
He also reminds us that while there are no commandments in the New Testament to celebrate Christian holidays like Easter and Christmas, the Old Testament commands Jews to celebrate the Jewish holidays, as did Yeshua. However, we as New Testament believers are not commanded to celebrate Jewish holidays just the Jews are.
For Mitch, it is just as important for Messianic Jews to hold onto their Jewishness as it is for non-Jews to “show a deeper understanding and love for the Jewish People.”
In that way, he says “the witness of the One New Man is made all the more powerful.” And to this we can all say “Halevai” or “may it be so.”

You can make a difference for Eternity by praying for the salvation of all people including the Jewish People and by helping House of the Nazarene bring the Good News to the Holy Land.
“This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord.  I will put My laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”  (Hebrews 10:16)

We Cover The Tribes, Journeys Or Matot, Masei Where Israelites Receive Their Inheritance This Week

The Lord goes on to command Moses to take vengeance on the Midianites in retaliation for their seducing the Israelites at Baal-peor. Yes, against his own wife’s people! Both Balak, the King of Moab, and Balaam, who had advised that Israel would be cursed if they were drawn into sin, are killed in this battle.

Welcome to this week’s Torah portion, Parasha Matot-Masei, or Tribes-Journeys, which will be read in synagogues around the world during the morning service this Shabbat (Saturday).
Two parshiot are combined this week to accommodate the schedule of Torah readings for the Jewish year 5780. Please study this double portion along with us. We know you will be blessed!

MATOT-MASEI (Tribes-Journeys)
Numbers 30:2–36:13; Jeremiah 2:4–28, 3:4, 4:1–2; Matthew 23:1–25:46
“Moses said to the heads of the tribes [matot] of Israel:  ‘This is what the Lord commands:  When a man makes a vow to the Lord or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said.'”  (Numbers 30:1–2)
Last week, in Parasha Pinchas, God rewarded Aaron’s grandson, Pinchas (Phinehas), a pact of peace and everlasting priesthood in response to his zeal for the Lord.
In this week’s double Torah portion (parasha) of Matot-Masei, the Israelites are coming to an end of their 40 years of wandering in the wilderness.
Both Miriam and Aaron, the sister and brother of Moses, have died in the desert; and Moses, in preparing for the end of his life in the desert as well, has passed on the mantle of leadership to his successor — Yehoshua (Joshua).
This week’s reading begins with the laws regarding vows and oaths, emphasizing our responsibility to be a people who keep our word and do what we have promised.
What is the meaning of Baal-Peor?
A reference to a divinity who was worshipped at that mountain peak, and, biblically, was the subject of the heresy of Peor. The divinity, worshipped by the Moabites, is biblically referred to as Baal-Peor (Num. 25:3,5, 18, Deuteronomy 3:29), literally meaning the Baal of Peor (The Lord of the House of Horus)
After the battle, a massive quantity of booty is distributed to the soldiers, and a share, you know a tithe something you don’t do, is designated for the sanctuary.

Settlement on East Bank of the Jordan
As the tribes of Israel prepare to cross over the Jordan River into the Promised Land, the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh approach Moses requesting permission to settle on the east side of the Jordan in the territories captured from Sichon and Og (Numbers 32:1–5).
Moses is at first disturbed by this request, accusing them of wanting to shirk their responsibility in following through on taking the Promised Land in obedience to the Lord’s command.
He asks these tribes, “Shall your brethren go to war while you sit here?”  (Numbers 32:6)
He compares them to the ten spies who came back with a bad report, bringing calamity on Israel.  His concern is that their actions will discourage the Israelites from taking the Land.
However, these tribes have no intention of avoiding battle; they just prefer the land on the east side of the Jordan, since it is suitable for their large herds and flocks of livestock.

As a side note: Although the Israelites first settled on the east side of the Jordan, in the 20th century, that land was allocated to the creation of an entirely new country called Transjordan (Jordan) by the League of Nations. To prove my point do you remember reading about King David fighting the Jordanians, or while I’m on the subject, the Palestinians? No, me either!

They are not only willing to go into battle, but they also pledge to go ahead of the Israelites as shock troops to take the Land.
“We will arm ourselves for battle and go ahead of the Israelites until we have brought them to their place…  We will not return to our homes until each of the Israelites has received their inheritance.”  (Numbers 32:17–18)
When Moses understands their motivation and the full plan, he agrees to their request and the Lord awards them their inheritance on the east side of the Jordan.
We can understand from this that Israel’s inheritance extends beyond the Jordan River.
This event also reminds each of us to patiently listen to a person’s reasoning when their request seems to be in conflict with a perceived goal.  We should not prejudge motivation and outcomes.

Administering the Inheritance
As if to affirm the coming victory in the Promised Land, the Lord assigns a leader for each of the nine and a half tribes who will be in charge of administering the inheritance of the land of Canaan (west of the Jordan River) among the people.
In addition to this, God also instructs the people to drive out all the inhabitants of the Land once they receive it.
He warns them:
“If you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall be that those whom you let remain shall be irritants in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they shall harass you in the land where you dwell.”  (Numbers 33:55)
However, when the Israelites crossed the Jordan, many times they made treaties or allowed the Canaanites to dwell among them, where they continued practicing their pagan rituals.  In time, these groups either led the Israelites back into pagan practices or tried to attack them from within.
Today, some believe the Jewish People have no right to the land, but in this Parasha, we see the Creator of the Universe fulfill the promise He made to Jacob all those years earlier:
“The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I also give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after you.”  (Genesis 35:12)

The Boundaries of Israel

“Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Command the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land of Canaan, this is the land that shall fall to you as an inheritance — the land of Canaan to its boundaries.”  (Numbers 34:1–2)
As the Creator of the Universe, God has the right to set the boundaries for the nations that He created.  In this week’s Parasha, God sets the borders of the territory of Israel, which are far larger than what Israel has settled today.
Fully inhabiting our inheritance of Judea and Samaria and even East Jerusalem may seem impossible with the creation of a Palestinian state, but when the Messiah returns, there will be a redistribution of land to the Twelve Tribes, and the world will plainly see the extent of Israel’s borders (Ezekiel 47:15–21).
At that time, says the Lord, “when I have brought them back from the nations and have gathered them from the countries of their enemies, I will be proved holy through them in the sight of many nations.”  (Ezekiel 39:27)
Unlike many of the foreigners who reside in the Holy Land today, after the war of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38–39) those who remain will have reverence for the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and no other; therefore, as fellow Believers, the Lord makes them inheritors as well.
You didn’t hear me! I said we as believers inherit that land as well, we are to rule and reign with Christ! Paul talked about wild branches and natural branches of a cultivated olive tree whereas Paul’s take on the practice seems unusual, however. It was unlikely that a farmer would graft a wild olive branch onto a cultivated olive tree. However, that is what God literally does for us that call on the name Jesus Christ of Nazareth to become our Lord and Saviour!
The Ingrafting of the Gentiles

“If the first part of the dough is holy, so is the whole batch; if the root is holy, so are the branches. Now if some branches have been broken off, and you, a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others to share in the nourishment of the olive root, do not boast over those branches. If you do, remember this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.” (Romans 11:16-18)
“You are to allot [the land] as an inheritance for yourselves and for the foreigners residing among you and who have children.  You are to consider them as native-born Israelites; along with you they are to be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.”  (Ezekiel 47:22)

Jeremiah Warns Israel of the Coming Exile
The prophetic reading (Haftarah) for this week is the second of the three “Haftarot of Admonition,” which are read during the Three Weeks.
During this three-week period between the 17th of Tammuz and the 9th of Av on the Jewish calendar (July 8 and July 30 on this year’s civil calendar), we remember that the walls of Jerusalem were breached and the Temple was destroyed.
The Prophet Jeremiah had been warning about the impending destruction of the Holy Temple and of Jerusalem for at least a few decades leading up to the Babylonian invasion.
In this reading, he details the terrible sins of the kings and the people that led to that destruction.
“As the thief is ashamed when he is found out, So is the house of Israel ashamed; They and their kings and their princes, and their priests and their prophets, Saying to a tree, ‘You are my father,’ And to a stone, ‘You gave birth to me.’  For they have turned their back to Me, and not their face.
“But in the time of their trouble they will say, ‘Arise and save us.’ But where are your gods that you have made for yourselves?  Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble.”  (Jeremiah 2:26–28)

To understand the extent of their wickedness, we need only look at King Manasseh (c. 687–642) who “sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced divination, sought omens, and consulted mediums and spiritists.  He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, arousing His anger.”  (2 Kings 21:6)
The Book of the Law had been hidden away in the Temple so that even the kings had little to no knowledge of what was written in it.  Instead of worshiping the God of Israel as written in Scripture, images of Baal were erected in the Temple where God said His name would be placed forever.  (2 Chronicles 33:2–9)
The Lord warned Manasseh and the nation about their evil deeds, but they ignored Him.  So the Lord took action against them:
“He rose up the army commanders of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh prisoner, put a hook in his nose, bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon.”  (2 Chronicles 33:10–11)
While in Babylonian captivity, Manasseh repented and with great humility called out to God, who restored him to his reign.
Manasseh and later his grandson King Josiah tried to return the nation to the worship of the God of Israel alone, but it seems their efforts came a little too late.  They were not able to provoke a national revival in the hearts of the people.
When these kings died, other kings took their place and continued to defile the Temple and disobey God’s law.
Today, our cities and nations are full of the same sins that brought about the destruction of Jerusalem on Tisha B’Av (9th of Av) and of the world in the days of Noah — a time when men were given over to other men in marriage.
Yeshua (Jesus) told us that His coming would be in a time such as this:
“Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.  They were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.”  (Luke 17:26–27)

God Restores His People
Just as in the ancient days of Israel, God’s desire is to bring correction in order that people will repent and turn back to Him and live in righteousness; for it is not God’s will that even one person should perish.
We see this with Manasseh.  God allowed him to be taken captive, but even he received God’s mercy and restoration after sincerely repenting:
“In his distress he sought the favor of the LORD his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his ancestors.  And when he prayed to Him, the LORD was moved by His entreaty and listened to his plea.  So He brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom.  Then Manasseh knew that the LORD is God.”  (2 Chronicles 33:12–13)
Although a nation as a whole may still suffer the consequences of the collective sins of the people, God does show mercy and restores each individual person who sincerely humbles himself, calls on His name, and repents (2 Corinthians 7:10).
Therefore, let us make ourselves ready by genuinely turning from our sins and re-establishing His ways in our lives.
Further, God will grant everlasting life to those who believe that Yeshua cleansed them from their sins with His blood once and for all.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  (John 3:16)
Those who believe are now free to live not as slaves to the sins of the ruler of the world, but as citizens of His Kingdom.
So ready yourself and keep an upward gaze — looking for the soon coming of the Son of Man — Yeshua, our Messiah, and Redeemer.
“Look, I am coming soon!  My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.”  (Revelation 22:12)

In these Last Days, God is moving among His people to physically and spiritually restore them.  You can be part of this end-time move of God by contributing to our work among the People.
“Hear the word of the LORD, you nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands:  ‘He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over His flock like a shepherd.”  (Jeremiah 31:10)

Replacing The Star-Spangled Banner, Facebook Begin Blocking Conservative And Christian Articles, The Dixie Chicks Will Now Only Be Called The

Besides, if we had to do away with every song because the writer wasn’t a saint, we wouldn’t have much music left, and that includes John Lennon music. Wonder what the cancel culture would do if they realized John wrote a song intended as a feminist anthem that was called “Woman is the (N-word) of the World”?

MUST-READ ARTICLE; A PARTY OF STARK-RAVING LUNATICS THIS SCANDAL HAS EVERYTHING!

REPLACING THE “STAR-SPANGLED BANNER”

A lot of people are talking about (and I don’t know why) a Yahoo music editor’s article calling for replacing “The Star-Spangled Banner” as America’s National Anthem, possibly with “Imagine” by John Lennon. The excuse is that Francis Scott Key was a slaveholder (he also represented slaves trying to win their freedom in court, pro bono) and that the third verse that is never sung is “blatantly racist” (although his use of the term “slave” has been hotly debated and might mean people pressed into service by the British Navy, oh and by the way, did I mention that it’s NEVER SUNG?)

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20

This is hardly the first time anyone’s wanted to replace “The Star-Spangled Banner,” although until now, it’s usually been because it’s so hard to sing (the tune was taken from a drinking song with a high note you practically have to be drunk to attempt to hit.) The choice to replace it was usually Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America,” but we can’t have that now! Referring to God is almost as un-PC as honoring a slaveholder.

But what about “Imagine”? Look, I love the Beatles, but that has to be the most over-praised song of the past century. Even Lennon admitted that it’s basically the Communist Manifesto set to music. Radical leftists love it because it paints a picture of a utopian world without national borders, private property or religion, and Lennon often found himself having to correct their interpretations and reminding them that he wasn’t advocating for those things, he was just suggesting “imagining” that we didn’t have all those differences so we could work together globally.

But people DO have differences, and as experience has taught us, leftist prescriptions, like taking away religious freedom and property rights, do nothing but make them angrier and more likely for those differences to flare into war. Besides, imposing that “utopia” requires an ironfisted oppressive government, which isn’t likely in a world without borders. If the song has a dreamlike quality, that’s because it is a dream. A pipe dream.

Besides, if we had to do away with every song because the writer wasn’t a saint, we wouldn’t have much music left, and that includes John Lennon’s music. Wonder what the cancel culture would do if they realized John wrote a song intended as a feminist anthem that was called “Woman is the (N-word) of the World”?

As with all art, we have to learn to separate the creation from the creator. Francis Scott Key was a flawed human being, as are all human beings, but he gave us a great song that represents a great nation, and it stands for all our people. Some of the most inspiring renditions of it were performed by black entertainers, from Mahalia Jackson to Jimi Hendrix to Whitney Houston.

If the statue-smashing radicals really want to learn from the wisdom of John Lennon, I’d recommend instead a far better song: “Revolution.”

You say you want a revolution, well, you know, we all want to change the world…

But when you talk about destruction, don’t you know that you can count me out…

You say you got a real solution, well, you know, we’d all love to see the plan.

You ask me for a contribution, well, you know, we’re all doing what we can.

But if you want money for people with minds that hate, all I can tell is brother you have to wait…

You say you’ll change the Constitution, well, you know, we all want to change your head.

You tell me it’s the institution, well, you know, you better free your mind instead.

But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao, you ain’t gonna make it with anyone anyhow…”

Yahoo wonders if the ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ should be replaced with ‘Imagine’

Following the tried and true formula of “Should, this thing happen? We found some random experts who say so,” Yahoo Entertainment has reached the conclusion that it’s time for the “Star-Spangled Banner” to be replaced as the U.S. national anthem.

The piece reads at times like a parody, with “journalist and activist” Kevin Powell arguing that it teaches kids violence at an early age and that every time the song is sung, it’s a celebration of the writer, Francis Scott Key, rather than a celebration of America. Key, who was a slaveowner, opposed abolition but also represented slaves trying to win their freedom in court, for no charge. It turns out like many historical figures, Key was a complicated man.

The third stanza of the song also features some, at best, questionable lines. “No refuge could save the hireling and slave. From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave,” could be referring to slaves literally, though Snopes pointed out that Key never specified what he meant and it could be a reference to the British Navy. Only the first stanza is ever even sung, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a handful of Americans who know any of the rest of the poem.

Powell also delivers on his idea for a replacement; John Lennon’s “Imagine.” That’s right, the song that asks listeners to “imagine there are no countries” should become the national anthem of our country. According to Powell, “Imagine” is, “the most beautiful, unifying, all-people, all-backgrounds-together kind of song you could have.” Unless, of course, your background is religious. A song that calls for “no religion too” should play well for the roughly 80% of religious people in the United States.

The calls to replace the “Star-Spangled Banner” are not serious ones, even in these unserious times of attempting to cleanse the past from civil society. In the end, this piece is mostly just a reminder that stripping the nation’s history and tradition does not have a limiting principle for some people, and many of those people are “experts” who get to advocate their positions in softball news stories. Power according to George Orwell

“Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”

Be Prepared To Be Booted From Facebook As Company Agrees To Begin Blocking Conservative And Christian Articles And Videos In Massive Purge
The GOP appears to be one of the first to face the clampdown on ‘harmful’ and ‘hateful’ content after Facebook put a warning label on a video posted by the RNC about ‘left-wing anarchists’ Friday.
“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5

Facebook has buckled into the pressure exerted on him by the radical Left, losing billions of dollars in stock value after being boycotted by the ‘big boys’. He has agreed to their demands to begin blocking and removing anything that goes against the Marxist agenda currently being forced on us through paramilitary groups like ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter. Case in point is the very first thing they have deemed as hate speech, a GOP campaign ad for Trump exposing the brutality of the Black Lives Matter riots. The riots themselves are not blocked or censored in any way, and ANTIFA and BLM soldiers are allowed to recruit through Facebook.

“But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them. And the gospel must first be published among all nations. But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.” Mark 13:9-11 (KJV)

Why is this happening? Because the Democrats have an election to steal in just a few months, and they cannot win if Christians and Conservatives keep telling the truth and exposing the coup that is currently underway. Call it the site that everyone loves to hate, but Facebook is the global meeting house, and the Liberal agenda cannot be put in power if free speech, free thought, and free expression are allowed. Sites like House of the Nazarene will maybe have to be removed because we have the most despised hate speech of all, and you will find it within the pages of your King James 1611 Authorized Version Holy Bible.

This is the manifesto of the Liberal Democrats, this is from a novel, yet it is happening in America at this very moment. ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter are their goon squads that roam our cities, burning, looting, robbing, raping, and killing just like the Nazi Brown Shirts before them. They are staging a coup against America, and they will succeed if you let them.  I have done my part by putting myself on the front lines with this article, and boldly defying them by exposing their agenda.

What will you do to prevent the overthrow of the United States of America? Think fast, if you wait too long it will all be over, and you will be enslaved.

Mark Zuckerberg finally promises action on ‘hate speech’ as Facebook shares drop $56 BILLION after Unilever and Coca-Cola pulled their advertisements

FROM DAILY MAIL UK: Facebook shares have dropped a staggering $56 billion after major companies including Unilever and Coca-Cola pulled their advertisements from the social media giant, despite CEO Mark Zuckerberg promising action on hate speech and putting a warning label on a Republican National Committee (RNC) video.

  • Shares in the platform went crashing 8.3 percent to $216.08 by the closing bell Friday wiping $56 billion off Facebook’s market value
  • This dealt a blow to Mark Zuckerberg’s personal fortune, pushing him from third to fourth place on Bloomberg Billionaires Index with a new net worth of $82.3bn
  • More than 100 firms including Unilever, Dove, Honda and Ben & Jerry’s have pulled the plug on Facebook advertising in support of #StopHateForProfit
  • The campaign called the company out for failing to stop hate speech and misinformation being posted on its platform
  • Coca-Cola became the latest major corporation to pull ad spend Friday saying ‘there is no place for racism in the world’
  • Facebook CEO Zuckerberg bowed to pressure Friday and announced new content policies on ‘harmful’ and ‘hateful’ content
  • The platform then put a ‘violent or graphic content’ warning label on a GOP video called ‘It’s about destroying America’ Friday
  • The video features footage of cop cars on fire alongside snippets of speeches made by Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors and Joe Biden

Shares in the platform went crashing 8.3 percent to $216.08 by the closing bell Friday – its lowest in three months – after more than 100 advertisers boycotted the firm for its failure to stop hate speech and misinformation being posted on its platform. This wiped $56 billion off Facebook’s market value and dealt a hefty $7.2 billion blow to Zuckerberg’s personal fortune, pushing him down from third to fourth place on Bloomberg Billionaires Index and leaving him with a new net worth of $82.3 billion.

This came after Coca-Cola and Unilever became the latest major corporations to pull the plug on Facebook advertising Friday, joining several firms including Dove, Honda, and Ben & Jerry’s in a show of support for the #StopHateForProfit campaign. Coca-Cola announced a pause on all paid social media advertising globally for at least 30 days saying ‘there is no place for racism in the world and there is no place for racism on social media’ while Unilever, one of the world’s biggest advertisers, said it would stop spending money with Facebook for the rest of the year.

Zuckerberg buckled under the pressure Friday and announced new content policies for the platform, including tighter restrictions on advertising and labels for ‘harmful’ posts from public figures.

The GOP appears to be one of the first to face the clampdown on ‘harmful’ and ‘hateful’ content after Facebook put a warning label on a video posted by the RNC about ‘left-wing anarchists’ Friday. The platform put a ‘violent or graphic content’ warning on the video named ‘It’s about destroying America’ which features footage of cop cars on fire alongside snippets of speeches made by Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors as well as Democrats Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

‘This video may show violent or graphic content,’ the Facebook warning reads. ‘We covered this video so you can decide if you want to see it.’

The video opens with footage of Cullors saying ‘we are trained Marxists’ before it goes on to show snippets of violent scenes across America amid the ongoing civil unrest in the wake of the Memorial Day ‘murder’ of black man George Floyd by a white cop in Minneapolis.

‘The ‘trained Marxists’ are on a violent rampage,’ flashes up on the screen as the video shows select scenes of a cop being hit by a car, an LA police cruiser on fire, a toppled statue of Ulysses Grant and St. John’s Church on fire during protests calling for an end to police brutality and racism. Joe Rogan – BLM Leaders Are Trained Marxists

Goodbye, Dixie.

Amid calls for the removal of Confederate symbols and nostalgia prompted by the Black Lives Matter movement, the notoriously liberal country music trio formerly known as the Dixie Chicks have finally decided that “Dixie” had to die. Source

THE CHICKS

The latest example of caving to the woke mob: the country group The Dixie Chicks announced that they are dropping the word “Dixie” from their names and will henceforth be known simply as “The Chicks.” I predict that feminists will protest that they are offended and triggered by the word “Chicks” and the group will announce that henceforth, they will simply be called “The.”

The Genesis of Discord and Strife Jesus Mentioned is the Korach Portion Explained

Now, was this a fire and brimstone sermon? You bet, however, it is time I expose and extort those who will listen. To those that don’t repent the judgment day will give you an answer of how prestigious you were!

Welcome to this sermon which also happens to be a Torah portion, which is called Korach (Korah).
But what is Korach or Korah and what did is meant by Jesus mentioned it and why? First, we will define and see what the Bible says about Strife, Envy, Causing Discord, Sowing Discord, to explain Korach or Korah.
Defining Strife: noun. vigorous or bitter conflict, discord, or antagonism: to be at strife. a quarrel, struggle, or clash: armed strife. competition or rivalry.
What does the Bible say about envy and strife?
It destroys relationships, sows discord, and creates a spirit of bitterness and evil. It causes people to act and speak in toxic ways. To become envious is definitely a sin, and is defined as such in God’s word. “For where envy and self- seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.” James 3:16.
What does the Bible say about causing or sowing discord?
In Proverbs 6:12-19 we have a description of a person who causes discord followed by seven things God hates.
This is the portion of Scripture that will be read in synagogues around the world this Saturday (Shabbat) morning.  We are certain you will be blessed as you follow along in our study of this week’s portion and as you’ll see it is definitely a relevant topic for today!
Parasha Korach (Korah)
Numbers 16:1–18:32; 1 Samuel 11:14–12:22; Acts 5:1–11
“Korach son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and certain Reubenites — Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth — became insolent and rose up against Moses.”  (Numbers 16:1–2)
In last week’s Parasha (Torah portion), Shelach Lecha, the seeds of rebellion were sown as the Israelites threatened to replace Moses as their leader.
So great was their fear of the giants in the Promised Land, and so great was their unbelief that they would be able to overcome those giants, that they wanted to forsake the promises of God and return to Egypt.
In this week’s Torah study, the rebellion continues with the mutiny against Moses’ leadership by a man named Korach, which means baldness, ice, hail, or frost.

The Abomination of Strife and Division
God loves peace and the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) dwells in peace (shalom).
God hates strife, discord, and division between brothers, calling the one who sows them an abomination:
“These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: … one who sows discord among brethren.”  (Proverbs 6:16, 19)
To highlight this sin, the Scripture portion this week is also called the Parasha of Machloket (Strife) since Korach created division, strife, and disaster within the community through his rebellion, discontent, and dirty politics.
In fact, the name Korach is derived from Korcha, which means split.

With an utter lack of humility, Korach, who was a Levite, rose up against Moses, joining forces with Datan and Aviram, who were from the tribe of Reuben, along with On, son of Pelet, and 250 respected chieftains from the Israelite community.
But what charge did the rebels have against Moses?
They accused him of exalting himself over the community:
“They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, ‘You take too much upon yourselves, for all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them.  Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?’”  (Numbers 16:3)
In fact, this sin that they accused Moses of was, in reality, their own sin.  Sadly, many are guilty of such self-deception and projection. We see this on FaceBook all the time regular people professing they’ve been exalted to Apostilship, Bishops, Pastors, and the like without anything to back up this so-called exaltation they’ve received. Why is it important to call out there are no Apostles today?
First, and perhaps most basically, the qualifications necessary for apostleship preclude contemporary Christians from filling the apostolic office.

In order to be an apostle, one had to meet at least three necessary qualifications: (1) an apostle had to be an eyewitness of the resurrected Christ (Acts 1:22; 10:39–41; 1 Cor. 9:1; 15:7–8); (2) an apostle had to be directly appointed by Jesus Christ (Mark 3:14; Luke 6:13; Acts 1:2, 24; 10:41; Gal. 1:1); and (3) an apostle had to be able to confirm his mission and message with miraculous signs (Matt. 10:1–2; Acts 1:5–8; 2:43; 4:33; 5:12; 8:14; 2 Cor. 12:12; Heb. 2:3–4). We might also note that, in choosing Matthias as a replacement for Judas, the eleven also looked for someone who had accompanied Jesus throughout His entire earthly ministry (Acts 1:21–22; 10:39–41).

Based on these qualifications alone, many continuationists (Continuationism is a Christian theological belief that the spiritual gifts have continued to the present age, specifically those sometimes called “sign gifts,”) agree that there are no apostles in the church today. Thus, Wayne Grudem (a continuationist) notes in his Systematic Theology, “It seems that no apostles were appointed after Paul, and certainly, since no one today can meet the qualification of having seen the risen Christ with his own eyes, there are no apostles today”
It is vital to realize that people often unknowingly judge others for the very sins that they themselves are committing.
“You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.”  (Romans 2:1)
Moreover, wicked people don’t necessarily realize that their deeds are evil, having internally justified themselves that their way is the right way.  This in no way negates the seriousness of that sin, however.

The Genesis of Discord and Strife
Wisdom calls for discerning the underlying motivation of a brother creating strife before making judgments and issuing condemnations.  And this is just what Moses did.
Moses knew the reason for Korach’s discord — the dark desire that lurked in his heart to exalt both himself and the Levitical priesthood to the position God had expressly granted to the Aaronic priesthood.
Since God Himself had made the priesthood and outlined the duties of the Levites, they acted in rebellion against the authority of God because it wasn’t good enough for them they wanted more.
Moses pinpointed the problem when he said,
“Hear now, you sons of Levi:  Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the work of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to serve them; and that He has brought you near to Himself, you and all your brethren, the sons of Levi, with you?”  (Numbers 16:8–10)
Not too long before their rebellion, God chose the Levites to be caretakers of the Holy Tabernacle — the structure and its vessels — as servants to the Aaronic priesthood.
While all Levites serve God, Aaron and his descendants held the special appointment of being able to approach the altar to perform sacrifices. The Kohen HaGadol (High Priest) could even enter the Holy of Holies where the Ark of the Covenant stood, a status that would certainly stir some hearts to great envy.
Moses pointedly asked the group, “Are you seeking the priesthood also?”
The Word of God warns us against this sort of self-aggrandizing ambition as it brings with it great evil.
“For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.”  (James 3:16)
Envy and selfish ambition cause all kinds of trouble in our personal lives, not only at home or at work, but also in congregations and fellowships as those who are neither qualified nor anointed vie for positions God never intended them to occupy.

And yes these self-servers that have exalted themselves to places of power instead of serving in their own Godly office that God has willed for them will answer for their deceit!

Death and Separation: The Consequence of Strife
“Moses sent a summons to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab; but they said, ‘We will not come up.’”  (Numbers 16:12)
Korach sinned by coveting the more prestigious role of the Aaronic priesthood, rather than that of Levitical servanthood.  Unlike Datan and Aviram, he had the courage to confront Moses directly, face to face.
During this confrontation, Datan and Aviram seemed to remain in their tents.  They sinned by rebelling against Moses’ authority over them as God’s divinely appointed leader.  When Moses called for them, they replied, “Loh na’aleh (we won’t go up).”
Ironically, those who refused to “go up” to negotiate peace with Moses ended up “going down” to their deaths.  The earth swallowed them up (as well as their families and Korach’s family) alive.
“So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly.”  (Numbers 16:33)
The other 250 in the group, who were offering incense to God and, therefore, elevating themselves to the position of the Aaronic priesthood, were consumed by fire.  (Numbers 16:35)
The firepans on which they were offering incense were pounded into copper plating for the altar, a visible warning for the Levites to stop encroaching on the Tabernacle and assuming the responsibilities of the Aaronic priesthood.
It also served as a reminder to the community of Israelites that sowing strife, questioning God’s leadership, and exalting themselves to positions of leadership ultimately lead to their own destruction.
“A worthless person, a wicked man … he sows discord.  Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly; Suddenly he shall be broken without remedy.”  (Proverbs 6:12–15)

Now, I ask again what will happen to all those who keep deceiving by their own exaltation?

Wisdom and Godly Company: Avoiding the Korachs of Today
The Rabbis consider this rebellion of Korach the most perilous moment for Israel during its wilderness journey, remembering Korach as the “Torah’s professional troublemaker and the most famous rabble-rousing Jew of all time.”  (Torah with a Twist of Humor)
Pointing to the negative example of Korach as a “peddler of hatred,” the Rabbis caution that we should not befriend evil people (al titchaber im rashah).  Indeed, Proverbs 13:20 counsels that “a companion of fools will suffer harm.”
This is one of the main lessons that we may learn from this Torah portion.
King Solomon (Shlomo), whose very name comes from the Hebrew word for peace (shalom), advises us to find wisdom, which prevents us from following wicked, devious people:
“Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.”  (Proverbs 2:12–15)
In fact, in this Torah reading, Moses warned the people of Israel to move away from the tents of Korach, Datan, and Aviram lest they are destroyed by God’s judgment of their sin, as well:
“Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be swept away with all their sins.”  (Numbers 16:26)

What can you do today? Stop watching everyone that claims to be of an office of power as many claims to be. How can a God that has ordered divisions all of a sudden appoint everyone to one office? God forbid, that would be chaos and the Almighty is not a God of chaos that comes from the other side!

The Apostle Paul confirms this sage advice of King Solomon and the Rabbis:  “Do not be misled.  Bad company corrupts good character.”  (1 Corinthians 15:33)
That is not to say that we should not minister to those who are caught in sin.
Yeshua (Jesus) ate with and talked to sinners and social outcasts — tax collectors, prostitutes, adulterers, beggars, and lepers.  He loved them enough to share the Kingdom of God with them and called them to repentance and holiness.
He did not, however, allow their sinful desires and behavior to influence or deter His holy purpose.  And He did not allow any outside influence to taint the holiness of His calling.
Likewise, we should not allow strife, jealousy, self-aggrandizement, or any other sin to taint our calling as royal children of the Most High King.
And rather than being jealous of the power, prestige, position, or possessions of others, let us be content with what God has given us.
“Godliness with contentment is great gain.”  (1 Timothy 6:6)
With God as our Father and Friend, we can trust Him to meet our social, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
As we’ll see next, being humble and gentle are two Godly ways we can avoid strife.

Choose Humility: A Solution to Strife
The truth of the matter is that Moses did not exalt himself over Korach and the others; it is God who raised him up into the position of leading Israel out of Egypt.
It was not his own desire to be the leader of Israel; rather, he was a leader of Israel as an act of obedience to the Lord.  He was not in that position due to self-aggrandizing ambition or a desire to rule over others.
Even in that exalted position, Moses was called the most humble man on earth (Numbers 12:3), and we are told to humble ourselves as well.
Walking in humility is being willing to walk in obedience to our calling whatever our Lot in life would be — whether God is requiring us to wash dishes or serve in a position of leadership.
It also means allowing God to exalt us in His perfect way and time — not to exalt ourselves out of jealousy or discontentment, but to be content in our status today.  (1 Peter 5:6)

Choose Gentleness: Another Solution to Strife
In addition to contentment and humility, we are not to seek a showdown or create a power-struggle; we are to seek harmony and peace, allowing God to judge between people.
The Bible tells us that “a soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”  (Proverbs 15:1)
We must remember also that we all see through the glass of God’s mysteries dimly (1 Corinthians 13:12).  One day, though, when all truth is revealed at the Second Coming of the Messiah, it may be effortless to live in a world without strife or division while our Messiah reigns from Jerusalem.
May we all learn to walk in greater humility, contentment, and gentleness towards all people; and may God bring unity and peace between brothers, as it is written, “Hinei mah tov umah na’yim; shevet achim gam yachad —Behold how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity.”  (Psalm 133:1)

If you defy this word you also defy Jesus’ prayer in John for the unity of all who say they are born again.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called.”  (Ephesians 4:4)

In these Last Days, God is moving among His people to physically and spiritually restore them.

Unite your prayers with ours for the End-time Salvation of All!

Now, was this a fire and brimstone sermon? You bet, however, it is time I expose and extort those who will listen. To those that don’t repent the judgment day will give you an answer of how prestigious you were!
